Debunking the debanking
Ah I see
I wondered at the time what the truth was about Farage getting put out of Coutts

NO he wasn't pushed out on political grounds. It was a commercial decision. Rose was foolish but the whole thing was a stunt to support Farage's "wokeness" campaign, and as NW would say no more he got way with it.

Not a major surprise, anything with Farage involved is suspect, truth and honesty are alien concepts to such as Farage and of course he can always find a devious, underhanded assistant.

Gosh, what a poorly written and researched article, ideal for the gullible punters.
If anyone's interested I link to the Banks own dossier on him;

Not entirely sure why I bother

I don't know why you bother either.
This isn't about the bank's "dossier".

Other than consideration of your political leanings - I'm unclear on why you bothered???
The referenced article is merely a litany of largely unsubstantiated moans and rumours from Farage's natural predators.

Only Rodney knows why the Coutts dossier on Farage isn't relevant to him being debanked by Coutts.
He kicked off with;

The article is about how people engineered this "scandal" to impress the likes of ( well, you ).

It's nothing more than an 'opinion' piece - very thinly dressed up as investigative reporting - very, very thinly.

OK
If banks wanted to stop keeping customers with controversial views, why is he the only one to have experienced this?
As for "opinion" it shows the contacts between Griffith and Farage, not previously disclosed. Why would a senior Tory be helping Farage?
And it reaffirms what the inquiry showed, that he was not "debanked" for political reasons, as was alleged here and elsewhere.

Off we go again
Ordinary people offered ‘no lifeline’ in debanking scandal, says lawyer
The Financial Conduct Authority has been accused of focusing on politicians while thousands of other people have also lost their bank accounts.
340,000 accounts have been closed by banks with little or no warning in many cases.
“Politicians – or PEPs (politically exposed people) as they are referred to – make up less than 1%* of this number, and among the other 99% there are many, many people who have done nothing wrong at all and whose financial worlds are in turmoil. Sadly, these people are contacting me for legal help every day.”

*Before banging the old computer keyboard do the maths.
**I do wonder why I do this but,
City Minister is Andrew Griffith its his job.
Bank chiefs have been summoned by City Minister Andrew Griffith to discuss how customers can be protected from being "de-banked" after Coutts terminated its relationship with Nigel Farage.
Mr Griffith is expected to write to the bosses of 19 banks, building societies and digital challengers warning that the government will "take all action necessary" to crack down on accounts being closed in response to customers' political views.
He said that regulations around politically exposed persons, or PEPs, are "being applied in a disproportionate manner by some financial institutions".
As said a lash up for the gullible.
** Caring sort of person?

So you go on to prove you were wrong originally , when you insisted Farage was being victimised ( as he did).

So you can't dispute that his nasty politics had anything to do with Coutts dropping him?

I think you got yourself a bit mixed up there.
You claimed, at the time, following Farage's whines, that he had been debanked because of his political views.
Which was even then curious because if that were so, there'd be dozens, maybe hundreds of cases of other people having the same experience. People who hold similar or perhaps even more extreme views. But there weren't.
Now we have the evidence that (a) the inquiry confirmed that Farage's experience had NOT been a function of his political views; and (b) that banks "debank" thousands of people every year, similarly for commercial reasons.
